Shellcrete pool decks and patios in Florida
A pool deck you can walk on barefoot in August. Shellcrete is crushed seashell, fine sand and white Portland cement, finished in place. It stays cooler underfoot than dark pavers, grips when wet, and it can go straight over a sound existing slab.
Cooler underfoot
Light shell aggregate reflects more sun than dark pavers or stamped concrete, which matters on a deck people cross barefoot.
Grip when wet
Honed and exposed-shell finishes keep texture at the surface. Florida code wants pool decks slip-resistant and non-absorbent.
Goes over your slab
If the existing concrete is structurally sound, Shellcrete can be applied as a topping — no demolition, no dumpster.

How it is made
Shell, white cement, and a crew that has poured it before
The shell is the material, not a coating. That distinction matters: a spray-on texture sits on top of your slab and wears through, whereas this is a placed topping with the aggregate running through it.
We are not going to pretend we invented shell in concrete — people have been doing it on this coast for centuries. What we control is the mix, the finishes, and the crews who place it.
