A pool deck in Tampa spends June through September in full sun with a heat index above ninety most afternoons. How hot the surface gets is governed almost entirely by how much light it reflects, which is a polite way of saying it is governed by colour.

South Tampa: old houses, old decks

My deck is 1970s and has been resurfaced once already. Can it take another?
Frequently yes, and what decides it is how the last surface is failing rather than how old it is. Even wear can usually be prepared and poured over. Failure in sheets means the previous bond has let go, and anything laid on top of that will let go with it — so the old coating comes off first. That is a day of preparation and it is the difference between a deck that lasts and one that repeats the problem.
